WHERE TO FIND THIS BEAUTIFUL LODGE: Murchison River Lodge is located on the southern bank of the River Nile overlooking Murchison Falls National Park, pods of hippos and papyrus islands.
In beautiful surroundings they offer comfortable and relaxing mid-range accommodation to suit all budgets; well appointed en-suite thatched cottages, thatched safari tents each with private facilities and comfortable camping tents already set up around their shaded campsite. If clients prefer to bring their own tents, they have covered areas for self catering in the campsite, including a fire pit and excellent shower and toilet facilities. Still clients they can choose to have meals at the main Restaurant though they have to inform the front Desk as soon as possible.
After enjoying game drive through the park, a magical boat trip to Bottom of Murchison Falls or in the opposite direction to the Delta in search for different species birds but commonly looking for the Shoe bill which is one of the Rare species , you can simply fancy unwinding by the lodge pool….. the choice is completely yours.
Murchison River Lodge (Cottages)
Our 4 thatched cottages are spacious and comfortable with attractive furnishing making each one unique. They are open plan with a double bed upstairs on a mezzanine floor and two single beds, including en-suite, downstairs. The wide verandas overlook the bush and have a sofa and hammock allowing you to enjoy the view! The cottages are perfect for families (if necessary we can add two extra children’s beds/baby cot) or a maximum of 4 adults who know each other well.
The cottages are all equipped with USB ports, stand alone fans, solar lights, bed linen, towels, mosquito nets, en-suite toilet and shower, solar hot water, plus a child’s stair gate. They do not have air conditioning. In the evening the pathways are lit with lanterns and our security staff will be happy to guide you from the restaurant back to your accommodation (which we encourage due to the wildlife activity at night).
Thatched Safari Tents
Our furnished en-suite thatched safari tents are on level ground amongst the bush, with three positioned close to the river bank. All tents are twin shared, although four of them can include a third bed and a baby cot if required (handy when travelling with young children) and have an outside area complete with safari chairs and table.
Instead of fiddly zips each tent is fashioned with wooden doors and equipped with solar lights, bed linen, towels, solar hot water, mosquito nets and have their own private permanent bathroom (due to environmental regulations the three tents located closet to the water have chemical toilets.) None of the tents have fans or air conditioning. In the evening the pathways are lit with lanterns and our security staff will be happy to guide you from the restaurant back to your accommodation (which we encourage due to the wildlife activity at night). Please be aware that monkeys have no respect for canvas so we recommend that any food items be kept in your vehicle
