Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari

Duration: 5 Days | From USD $820 per person sharing
Group Tour: 4pax min

Apart from the Rhino, you can catch four of the famous members of the AFRICA BIG FIVE (African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo and African leopard) on the Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular savanna reserve. The variety of habitats include grassland savanna, forests, wetlands and lakes. This makes for a wide range of large mammals and primates. The park is set against a backdrop of the Ruwenzori Mountains. Additional scenic points are Kazinga Channel between Lake Edward and Lake George and at least 10 crater lakes. The most accessible part of the park is open savanna, but large forest areas are open to the public. These include the forested Kyambura gorge and the extensive Maramagambo forest in the southeast.

QENP occupies an estimated 1,978 square kilometres (764 sq mi), and it’s known for its wildlife, including Cape buffaloes, hippopotami, crocodiles, elephants, leopards, Congo lions, and chimpanzees. It is home to 95 species of mammal and over 500 species of birds. The area around Ishasha in Rukungiri District is famous for its tree-climbing lions, whose males sport black manes. Poachers killed five or six elephants in the park in 2015, triggering both anger and frustration within the Ugandan conservation community.

The park is also famous for its volcanic features, including volcanic cones and deep craters, many with crater lakes, such as the Katwe craters, from which salt is extracted. Queen Elizabeth National Park includes the Maramagambo Forest and borders the Kigezi Game Reserve, the Kyambura Game Reserve, and the Kibale National Park in Uganda, and the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
