Overview

Chimpanzee Safari: Uganda’s biggest tourist draw is of course the mountain gorillas, but these aren’t the country’s only great apes. Humankind’s closest relative, the chimpanzee, is found in a number of areas of Uganda. Some of these groups have been habituated to human contact in the same way as the gorillas, and although their more energetic lifestyle and unpredictable nature makes them slightly less approachable, there’s no doubt that hanging out with chimps is one of life’s great experiences.

Allow Wild Discoveries Safaris Uganda to take you on this exciting chimpanzee safari and take in the great adventure experience, chimpanzee tracking and the amazing wildlife safari in Uganda’s most famous park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lake Mburo National Park.

Your 7 Day Chimpanzee safari & wildlife adventure starts in the colourful quiet city, Entebbe, driving west from the capital Kampala to Kibale National Park.  The 795-sq-km Kibale National Park is a lush tropical rainforest, believed to have the highest density of primates in Africa. It’s most famous for being one of the best places in the world to track wild chimpanzees, with five groups habituated to human contact. It’s home to 13 primate species, with the rare red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys the other highlights.

On our day 4-5 we spice up our chimpanzee safari & habituation experience with another wildlife safari experience in Queen Elizabeth National Park for another blissful adventure day. Watch elephants roam beneath the backdrop of Rwenzori Mountains and get closely acquainted to the immense herds that roam around the QENP savannah plains. In the tree branches are the captivating tree climbing lions of Ishasha sector. Take a picture, record a memory and breath in the beautiful wild air of Africa Savannah grasslands.

Why not scale the adventure down a little before we end the 7 day safari with Lake Mburo National Park’s newly migrated giraffes. The 370-sq-km highway park, Lake Mburo National Park is an increasingly common stop on the safari circuit since it’s the only place in southern Uganda to see zebra. It’s also the only park in the country with impala, slender mongoose and giant bush rat, and is a great place to look for leopard, topi and eland. Furthermore, some excellent news is that giraffe are rumoured to be intoduced here soon. Some of the 325 species of bird include martial eagle, red-faced barbet, papyrus yellow warbler and African finfoot.
